The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) was founded in 1911. At that time, it was called Middle Tennessee State Normal School. Guaranteed admissions require a 3.0 GPA. If not, then the student must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher and an ACT score of 19. There are competitive scholarships offered to certain students. Those that have an ACT of 25 to 29 and a GPA starting at 3.5 get access to these opportunities.
