The University of Regina is a publicly funded, research, and comprehensive university. It is located in Regina, in the state of Saskatchewan, Canada. The non-denominational institution came into existence in 1911, as a response to the University of Saskatchewan being given to the state of Saskatoon. Regina College integrated into the University of Regina in 1934. However, the university existed largely in affiliation to other colleges and universities, such as Regina College and the University of Saskatchewan. It became an independent entity in July 1974. The university also actively works for the rights of Aboriginals, providing services to remote communities. Aboriginal adults are part of the campus, providing social support to others from their community. Moreover, a separate Aboriginal Career Centre was established to promote and enable the community in pursuing fulfilling careers.

Maclean’s graduate survey for Comprehensive Universities places it at the 14th spot, and at the 41st spot for reputation within Canada.
