The Global Hope Scholarship Program, administered by the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation, provides financial assistance to international students from developing countries who wish to pursue higher education in South Korea. The program aims to nurture future leaders who can contribute positively to their societies. To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of countries listed in the DAC List of ODA Recipients and face financial difficulties in continuing their studies. Additionally, they must demonstrate academic excellence, with a minimum TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 3, and express a willingness to engage in volunteer activities, social contributions, and foundation-organized events.

The application process requires candidates to be recommended by one of the foundation’s partner universities in South Korea, which include institutions such as Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, Sungkyunkwan University, and many others. Only students who have been admitted to or are currently enrolled in these universities can receive a recommendation. The number of scholars per university is limited, with new spots opening only when current scholars graduate. Additionally, to maintain diversity, each university imposes a cap on the number of scholars from any particular country.

Samsung Global Hope Scholarships Coverage

This scholarship for international students covers the following:

  • Undergraduate level : KRW 3,900,000 per semester
  • Master's and PhD level : KRW 3,500,000 or KRW 5,000,000 per semester
