1. Qatar University
One of the prominent law schools in the country is the College of Law at Qatar University. Legal studies were originally connected to the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, and Qatar University’s college timeline lists the College of Law as established in 2004.
The college offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program, Master of Laws programs in Private Law and Public Law, and a doctoral program in Law. The bachelor’s program is designed to help students develop the legal knowledge, skills, and professional values needed for the practice of law. A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) is awarded to students who complete 123 credits in total.
The Master of Laws in Private Law and Master of Laws in Public Law are two specialized postgraduate programs available at the university. Students interested in careers in the public or private sector may consider one of these programs. Each master’s program is listed as a two-year, 33-credit program. The Graduate Certificate in Legal Studies was designed as a bridge for law graduates who did not meet the master’s admission requirements. It requires 12 credits in one academic year, and students who complete it may apply to the master’s program if they meet the required conditions, including a GPA of at least 3.2 out of 4.0. However, the certificate is currently suspended.

Founded in 2015, the College of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University is a graduate-level law school located in Qatar Foundation’s Education City. The college offers four degrees: Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Economic and Business Law, Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and Foreign Affairs, and Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.).
The Juris Doctor (J.D.) is a three-year, 85-credit graduate-level law degree taught in English. Admission to this program requires a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a strong academic record, including a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0. Unless exempt, applicants must also submit an IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 79.
The postgraduate programs offered are the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Economic and Business Law and the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and Foreign Affairs.
The LL.M. in International Economic and Business Law is a one-year, 32-credit program aimed at recent or established law graduates. The program focuses on international business, trade, investment, finance, intellectual property, environmental law, and dispute resolution.
The LL.M. in International Law and Foreign Affairs is also a one-year, 32-credit program. It focuses on international law, foreign policy, public policy, and global affairs.
