If you’ve been planning to pursue a career in medicine, you probably already know that medical education can be expensive in many countries. In India, government medical colleges usually have lower tuition, but competition for seats is high because admission is based on NEET UG rank and counseling.

Private and self-financed medical colleges can cost much more, so applicants should compare the official fee notice, seat quota, hostel charges, and one-time deposits before applying.

Luckily, in countries like India, there are medical colleges whose fees can be comparatively affordable depending on the quota. Below is a list of 7 such medical institutes that you can consider if you want to study medicine at a comparatively lower price.

Affordable Medical Schools in India

1. CCM Medical College

  • Tuition Fees: ₹40,000 + ₹10,000 in 2025–26 admission demand drafts; confirm the latest official fee notice before applying

Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Government Medical College, Durg was established in July 2013 as an undergraduate MBBS institution. It is now a government medical college of Chhattisgarh. The official college website lists an MBBS intake capacity of 200 seats per year and a 5.5-year MBBS duration, including a one-year internship.

Admission is through NEET UG. All India Quota candidates go through DGHS/MCC counseling, while State Quota candidates go through the Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh. Candidates must meet NEET UG age and qualification requirements, including being at least 17 years old by December 31 of the exam year.

2. Christian Medical College

  • Tuition Fees: ₹3,000/year; ₹84,330 first-year college fee total before hostel and mess charges

Christian Medical College, Vellore is one of the most affordable options for MBBS tuition in India. CMC began as a one-bedded clinic in 1900. Medical education at CMC began in 1918, and the MBBS degree course was introduced in 1942.

The college offers MBBS, BSc Nursing, BSc Allied Health Sciences, diploma, postgraduate diploma, fellowship, and other health-science programs. For MBBS, applicants must qualify for NEET UG and complete the CMC application and counseling/admission process for the relevant year.

The MBBS tuition fee is ₹3,000 per year. The 2025–26 prospectus lists a first-year college fee total of ₹84,330 before hostel deposits and monthly hostel bills.

3. Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences

  • Tuition Fees: ₹7,45,187 listed as the 2025–26 course-fee/guarantee amount; fee may change if AFRC revises it

Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences, or RIMS, is a fairly new medical college. It was established in 2012 and is associated with the mission “Health for All,” which reflects the college’s focus on health care education and access.

The MBBS program has 150 seats, lasts 4.5 years plus a one-year internship, and requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Admission is through NEET ranks and centralized counseling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh, not through a separate CGPMT route.

4. Terna Medical College

  • Tuition Fees: ₹7,90,000/year for 2025–26 Open State Quota; higher Institute and NRI quota fees apply

If you’re situated in Mumbai or want to study in Navi Mumbai, Terna Medical College is one private option to compare. It was established in 1991, is recognized by the National Medical Commission, and is affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The college lists an MBBS intake of 150 seats.

The MBBS program runs for 4.5 years followed by a compulsory rotating internship. The college advises applicants to use the official State CET Cell and college website for admission information.

For 2025–26, the fee sheet lists ₹7,90,000 for Open State Quota candidates, ₹23,70,000 for Institute Quota candidates, and ₹39,50,000 for NRI candidates. Hostel, mess, deposits, and university eligibility fees are charged separately.

5. Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences

  • Tuition Fees: ₹17,40,000 listed course fee; subject to revision by MPPURC

Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences is located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh and was registered in 2003. The official MBBS page lists the program duration as 4.5 years and the annual intake as 250 seats.

The MBBS page states that students must qualify for NEET and complete Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Because the college notes that fee details can vary, applicants should confirm quota-specific charges with the admissions office before applying.

6. Kasturba Medical College

  • Tuition Fees: ₹71,00,500 total program fee for 2026–27 general category; ₹10,000 refundable caution deposit extra

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal is a constituent medical college of Manipal Academy of Higher Education. It was established in 1953 as the country’s first self-financing medical college. Its MBBS program runs for 4.5 years plus a one-year compulsory rotating internship.

The college is recognized by the National Medical Commission and is attached to a 2,032-bed teaching hospital. Admission to MBBS is through NEET UG and the applicable counseling process; the old Manipal University online entrance test route is no longer the admission route for MBBS.

For the 2026–27 general category, MAHE’s fee sheet lists a total MBBS program fee of ₹71,00,500, with a first installment of ₹17,83,000 and a refundable caution deposit of ₹10,000.

7. Maharaja Agrasen Medical College

  • Tuition Fees: ₹1,80,000/year for the first 4 years and ₹90,000 for the 5th year; latest official fee PDF lists ₹2,49,340 due at admission

Established in 1988, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College is located in Agroha, Haryana. The official undergraduate page lists 100 MBBS seats, including 3 NRI seats if sanctioned by the state government.

Admission to MBBS is through NEET score and counseling conducted/finalized by Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences/PGIMS, Rohtak. The college states that MBBS seats are regulated under the state government quota and that no management quota is permitted.

The latest official MBBS fee PDF on the college website lists tuition of ₹1,80,000 per year for the first 4 years and ₹90,000 for the 5th year, with hostel, electricity, university, security, and caution fees listed separately. The amount due at admission is ₹2,49,340.
