University of Florida (UF) is one of the public research-oriented tertiary institutions in the USA. It is situated in Gainesville. In the world, UF maintains a healthy position of 83rd among all the universities in the world based on the 2018 publication of the Academic Ranking of World Universities. As regards student life, UF has a very vibrant community of students, especially with the different associations and fraternities on campus. There are over 50 fraternities and sororities in UF. In terms of residence, UF provides accommodation for an estimated 9,200 students on campus.

The popular Gatorade drink was developed for the 1965-66 Florida Gators football team by a group headed by a College of Medicine professor, Robert Cade. UF has produced a long list of alumni that have excelled in different fields of life.

As a result of stiff competition, the acceptance rate at the University of Florida is 34%. Out of approximately 41,000 applicants, only 14,000 freshmen were offered admission into UF.
