The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a constitutional federation of seven emirates. Abu Dhabi city is the capital of the UAE, and Dubai is the country’s second-largest emirate.

If you are planning to study in the UAE, the country offers universities with a range of programs and admissions requirements. Most of the universities below do not publish current official acceptance-rate percentages, so we’ve estimated the acceptance rates.

Universities in UAE with High Rates of Acceptance

1. American University of Sharjah

Founded in 1997, the American University of Sharjah is an independent, not-for-profit, coeducational institution. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 6,800 students from over 100 nations.

Bachelor’s programs offered by the American University of Sharjah include the Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. The university also offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Prospective students should review the official admissions page for the latest application requirements.

2. University of Sharjah

The University of Sharjah was established in 1997. Its main campus is located in Sharjah.

Examples of undergraduate programs offered by the University of Sharjah include the Bachelor of Science in Finance, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Management, and Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.

The university also offers graduate programs, including the Executive Master in Business Administration, Master of Arts in Communication, and Master of Science in Computer Science.

Admission is competitive and program-specific. Meeting the minimum admissions requirements does not guarantee acceptance, so applicants should review the current requirements for their intended program.

3. American University of Ras Al Khaimah

Established in 2009, the American University of Ras Al Khaimah is a public, non-profit, coeducational institution situated in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Tuition varies by program. For students taking 12 to 16 credit hours, the current undergraduate fee schedule lists AED 30,130 per semester for most programs, AED 31,645 per semester for several programs including Architecture, Biotechnology, and Computer Science, and AED 32,600 per semester for Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Additional non-tuition fees also apply.

Undergraduate options include programs in Biotechnology, Business, Architecture, and Computer Science. Graduate options include the Master of Business Administration, Executive Master of Business Administration, Master of Education: Educational Leadership, Master of Science in Engineering Project Management, and Master of Science in Sustainable and Renewable Energy.

4. United Arab Emirates University

Next on our list is United Arab Emirates University. Founded in 1976, it is a comprehensive national university that currently enrolls approximately 20,000 Emirati and international students.

International undergraduate admissions requirements vary by college. The current requirements page lists minimum high school averages ranging from 85% to 90% for the colleges open to international applicants, along with program-specific subject requirements. Commonly listed English-language alternatives include an Academic IELTS score of 5.5, TOEFL ITP score of 525, or TOEFL iBT score of 70. Applicants should review the current requirements for their intended college.

5. University of Dubai

The University of Dubai was established in 1997. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Business Administration, IT, Engineering, and Law.

Current undergraduate options include Bachelor of Business Administration programs, the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering – Communication Engineering, and the Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems.

Graduate offerings include a General MBA, specialized MBA options such as FinTech and Digital Marketing, Master of Laws programs, and the Master of Science in Cyber Security.

6. New York University Abu Dhabi

We end our list with New York University Abu Dhabi. NYU Abu Dhabi is highly selective, so it is an exception to the focus of this article. The university welcomed its first class in 2010, and its Saadiyat Island campus opened in 2014.

NYU Abu Dhabi offers 26 undergraduate majors. Examples include Art and Art History and Computer Science. African Studies is offered as a minor.

According to the university’s facts and figures page, NYU Abu Dhabi has more than 2,000 undergraduate students, and more than 115 countries are represented in its student body. The published admit rate for the Class of 2029 is 2.9%.

The UAE offers a range of higher education options for international students. Since most of the universities listed above do not publish official acceptance-rate percentages, compare their entry requirements, tuition fees, scholarships, and application deadlines directly on their official websites before applying.
