Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, is a major education and business hub. Saudi Arabia continues to invest heavily in education, and the country’s location gives students convenient regional travel options. For example, nonstop flights between Riyadh and Dubai usually take about two hours, with several airlines operating on the route.

Saudi universities are well represented in regional rankings. In the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2026, Saudi institutions include King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals at #1, King Saud University at #4, and King Abdulaziz University at #7. Many Saudi universities also offer English-taught graduate programs. Because Saudi universities generally do not publish official overall acceptance rates, the figures below should be treated as third-party estimates where available rather than official university figures. Let’s take a look at the universities in Saudi Arabia with high acceptance rates.

Universities in Saudi Arabia with High Rates of Acceptance

1. Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University

Named after the sister of King Abdulaziz, the founder of the Kingdom, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University traces its roots to Saudi Arabia’s first women’s education college, established in 1970, and became a university in 2008. It is widely recognized as the largest women’s university in the world. Today, the university’s bachelor’s admissions page lists 18 colleges and institutes and 82 bachelor’s programs.

The central campus is located in Riyadh. The university includes health-sciences colleges such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, along with colleges in science, humanities, applied fields, and language institutes.

2. Effat University

Effat University was established in 1999 as a private, nonprofit institution inspired by Queen Effat Al-Thunayan, the wife of King Faisal. Graduate students can study across STEM disciplines and use advanced research facilities. The KAUST Fellowship is a major attraction for admitted students, as it includes tuition coverage, a monthly stipend, accommodation, health insurance, and relocation support for eligible students.

4. Umm al-Qura University

Umm al-Qura University traces its origins to 1949, when King Abdulaziz established the College of Shari’ah in Makkah as the Kingdom’s first higher education institution. Its main campus is located in Makkah, and the university’s early academic focus was closely tied to Islamic law and Arabic studies.

Since then, the university has diversified its academic portfolio with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Current university information lists medicine colleges, science and engineering colleges, Shari’ah and administration colleges, humanities and educational sciences colleges, and branch colleges.

5. Alfaisal University

Next on our list of universities in Saudi Arabia with high acceptance rates is Alfaisal University, a private research university established by the King Faisal Foundation in Riyadh in 2002. Graduate options include Biomedical Sciences, Applied Health Research, Applied Artificial Intelligence, and other master’s programs. Alfaisal University is also known for strong industry connections, which can help students build professional networks for the future.
