1. Aalto University

Aalto University is a public research university where science and art meet technology and business. It is located in the picturesque coastal city of Espoo. Established through a merger of the Helsinki University of Technology, the Helsinki School of Economics, and the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2010, the Aalto University harnesses the best of all three institutions.

Bachelor’s and master’s programs in the fields of technology, art, and business are offered to international students. Admission into bachelor’s programs requires a TOEFL score of 92 or higher, while master’s programs require a score of 92 for the TOEFL iBT with at least 22 for writing or a score of 92 or higher in the TOEFL PDT (paper-delivered test) with at least 22 for both reading and listening and 24 for writing.

2. Arcada University of Applied Sciences

The Arcada University of Applied Sciences is a private university with a multidisciplinary community that provides practical and innovative education across a vast spectrum of programs. It openly welcomes international students, and up to fifty languages are spoken across the campus.

Arcada is located in the Finnish national capital of Helsinki. It offers a wide array of bachelor’s and master’s programs across the fields of business, sports, culture and media, social care and healthcare, and technology. International students planning to pursue programs in English like International Business and Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering require TOEFL scores of 79 or higher.

3. Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT

The Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT, also known as LUT University, calls itself the “Land of the Curious” and encourages an environment of curiosity and questioning. It was hailed as one of the world’s top 11 small universities. Despite its small size, it is listed by the Times Higher Education World’s University Rankings among the top 350 universities worldwide.

LUT offers bachelor’s and master’s programs in the fields of business, technology, and social sciences. A minimum TOEFL score of 78 is required for applicants to the bachelor’s programs, and 90 for master’s.

4. University of Lapland

The University of Lapland is a public university located in the city of Rovaniemi in the Arctic Circle. It is highly modern, practical, and work-oriented, which makes it a top choice for students interested in studying in such a unique environment.

The university offers master’s programs in Arctic Art and Design, Tourism, Culture, and International Management, Arctic Tourism, and Service Design Strategies and Innovation. A TOEFL score of 92 and above is required for admission.

5. University of Helsinki

The University of Helsinki is Finland’s oldest and largest university and has the widest range of disciplines among all educational institutions in the country. Its history dates back to 1640 in Turku and was moved to its current location in the national capital in 1829.

The university accepts TOEFL scores for its bachelor’s program in science and its international master’s programs which include Agricultural Sciences, Economics, International Business Law, and Neuroscience. If you are planning to study at the university, you must acquire at least a TOEFL score of 92 or higher, with minimum scores of 22 for writing, and 20 for listening and reading.

6. University of Jyväskylä

The University of Jyväskyla is a multidisciplinary research university in Helsinki, Finland that prides itself in offering high-quality education in a wide selection of programs across various fields of study.

The university offers two-year master’s programs such as in Banking and International Finance, Nanoscience, and Educational Sciences for international students. The language requirements vary per program, but generally, a minimum TOEFL score of 92 is accepted.

7. University of Oulu

The University of Oulu is an international multidisciplinary science university in Finland that is in the top 3% of universities across the globe. It is one of the oldest and largest universities in the country. Oulu is renowned for its programs in medicine, dentistry, life sciences, biology, information technology, and geology.

The university accepts international students seeking bachelor’s and master’s degrees into its culturally diverse community. Admission requires a minimum TOEFL score of 78 for bachelor’s students, and 92 for master’s with a minimum of 20 in writing for the iBT version and no lower than 20 across all sections for the iBT Special home edition.
