To prove this, many schools accept certifications from specific standardized English proficiency tests, including IELTS. In Australia, the official IELTS test fee is currently around AUD 490 at most test centers, so it can be a significant added cost.
The problem is that this examination can be expensive and is not the only thing you may have to pay for while applying. IELTS is also not the only way to prove your English proficiency. UNSW has many options for proving your English language proficiency besides IELTS. Other tests and pathways it accepts include TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, PTE Academic, UNSW College University English Entry Course (UEEC), Cambridge C1 Advanced, and Cambridge C2 Proficiency, depending on the program and timing of your test results.
UNSW may also accept evidence from recognized English-speaking backgrounds, previous secondary or tertiary study in English, relevant work experience, or other approved evidence. For example, candidates with at least two years of directly relevant work experience in an English-speaking country or a workplace where English was the sole language of business may be able to use that experience as part of an English waiver request.
