If I have IELTS , GPA 4+ and been accepted by this university, how much is it possible for me to get this scholarship?

        • Hyun Lee February 16, 2024 at 3:59 pm - Reply

Depends on your IELTS score and other standardized scores that you have. You haven’t specified your IELTS score. If your IELTS score is high and other standardardized scores (SAT, ACT, AP, etc) are high, you have a good chance

Hi. Do I need to graduate high school to apply to the university for the fall semester? I will graduate in May 2024 and I want to study in the fall semester, but the application process starts in March and they require a high school diploma.

    • Hyun Lee March 11, 2024 at 7:44 am - Reply

No, you can still fill the application and submit your diploma after you graduate. You can talk to Sungkyunkwan University admissions about it, but there will be many students like you.

I think that you will get some good fully funded scholarships in Korea with TOPIK 5, including Samsung Global Sungkyun Scholarship. There are other scholarships in Korea and you can find them in best Korean scholarships article and our scholarship database.

I have my duolingo test scores. Am I eligible to study there? Is there any way to waive the application fee?

    • Hyun Lee May 5, 2024 at 2:39 pm - Reply

Hello, I’m not sure if Sungkyunkwan University accepts Duolingo Scores. In their admission guidelines, it says “Original official English proficiency test(TOEFL iBT, IELTS, TEPS, TOEIC, etc.) score report submission.” So you should ask admissions if they will accept Duolingo Score. For application fee, I’m not sure either. You should ask them about it, but I doubt that they will waive it for you.

I’m not sure. You should ask the university directly and see what they say. I think it will be different for different universities.

Hello, I don’t believe this scholarship is applicable to transfer students. You would have to apply as a freshman

I have Topik 6 and 8.5 IELTs along with CGPA of 9.5/10. I also have some Korean prizes back in high school and more than 10 activities relating to my major. However I did not take the SAT test and im also applying for a social science major (i heard that it would be better if the applicant apply for natural science major). Will i have any chance for this scholarship?

    • Hyun Lee September 8, 2024 at 4:39 pm - Reply

I think you are a very strong candidate since you have extremely high language proficiency scores in both English and Korean. If you have a good SAT or ACT score, that will make your application stronger. I highly recommend you to apply for this scholarship (you just have to apply for admissions to be considered), and also, I recommend that you apply for Global Korea Scholarships as well if you are in eligible countries. You have a very good chance of getting it.

      • maxlee September 12, 2024 at 2:36 am - Reply

Thank you for your response. I have another question. As I plan to major in Media and Communication, I had to apply through Korean Track for SKKU. Is the Samsung global scholarship available for both Korean Track and English track?

        • Hyun Lee September 15, 2024 at 5:37 pm - Reply

It doesn’t say specifically on the website; it just says it’s for foreign students, so I’m guessing it’s available for both tracks?

I have IELTS 7.0 almost two years (expires on may) and in my country there is only 11 year of study in school, did my foundation year which is equivalent to 12th grade, getting gpa 4.0/4.0, and the study was in english. I did amazingly in relevant modules to global economics (applying to), like math, eco and others. Will I be a strong candidate

    • Hyun Lee September 29, 2024 at 4:44 pm - Reply

I don’t think you are strong candidate unless you have strong scores on SAT, ACT, AP, or IB. You might be able to get in without these tests, but it is advisable to have good scores on these tests

      • Nuriddin September 29, 2024 at 8:43 pm - Reply

If I retake IELTS and get at least 7.5, will it better or i really need sat?

        • Hyun Lee October 9, 2024 at 12:58 pm - Reply

You should try to get at least 7.5 on the IELTS. Also, having a higher score on the SAT/ACT definitely helps on your application.
