 1. Fulbright Foundation Scholarships

  • Scholarship Page
  • Scholarship amount: For the Study/Research Award, an estimated monthly stipend of US$1,300, a one-time settling-in allowance of US$1,200, international travel, and additional benefits
  • Eligible applicants: Recent graduates and students at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels who are U.S. citizens

Fulbright Greece offers several awards for U.S. citizens. The linked Open Study/Research Award for the 2027–2028 academic year provides up to five grants for recent college or university graduates and students at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels who propose independent research in Greece. It is not a general undergraduate or graduate-degree tuition scholarship.

The official page lists an estimated monthly maintenance allowance of US$1,300, an additional US$150 per month for each dependent for up to two dependents, a one-time settling-in allowance of US$1,200, international travel, and health-related benefits. Applicants must secure an affiliation in Greece. The application deadline listed for the 2027–2028 cycle is October 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

U.S. applicants seeking an English-taught Master’s degree at a Greek state university should separately review the Fulbright Graduate Studies Award. That award has different terms, including first-year tuition and fee support of up to US$1,500.

The awards are merit-based, and applications are submitted online.

Recipients must maintain a cumulative index of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 during their studies. Applicants should apply early and confirm the deadline directly with Alba: the official webpage lists May 31, 2026, while its linked scholarship PDF lists April 30, 2026.

3. Alba Graduate Business School Scholarships and Financial Assistance

Alba Graduate Business School offers scholarships and other funding opportunities annually. International candidates may receive a partial tuition scholarship of up to 30% based on an excellent academic and professional background. Alba also publishes named scholarships with program-specific and applicant-specific criteria.

Students should distinguish merit scholarships from need-based financial assistance. Alba’s official financial-assistance page states that need-based support applies to tuition rather than other fees and is available to students who file taxes in Greece. Applicants should review the current pages carefully to identify the opportunities for which they qualify.

4. Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund programs

  • Scholarship Page
  • Scholarship amount: Five scholarships of US$10,000 each

The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund, commonly known as Sylff, was launched in 1987. At the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the program supports Master’s and Ph.D. students in the social sciences and humanities who demonstrate leadership potential.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, the university announced five scholarships of US$10,000 each. The award amount, application window, and number of scholarships may change in future calls, so applicants should review the latest announcement before applying.

Existing Sylff fellows may later qualify for additional support programs, subject to each program’s current eligibility rules. For example, the Sylff Research Grant supports eligible research expenses, while Sylff Leadership Initiatives provides funding for qualifying projects.

5. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarship

  • Scholarship Page
  • Scholarship amount: For funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters, €1,400 per month for the full duration of the program
  • Eligible degree/s: Master’s

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are international Master’s programs delivered jointly by multiple higher education institutions. Scholarship availability depends on the specific program and application cycle. For funded programs, the Erasmus+ Programme Guide calculates the scholarship contribution at €1,400 per month for the full program duration, which may be 12, 18, or 24 months.

Applicants should not assume that every Greece-linked program has Erasmus Mundus scholarship funding in every cycle. For example, the official pages for ISLANDS and the EU-CONEXUS Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology state that Erasmus Mundus scholarships are not available for their 2026–2027 calls. The EU-CONEXUS program separately states that up to 15 selected applicants will receive a 100% tuition-fee waiver.
