Top Finance Schools in Europe

1. Maastricht University

One of the younger universities in the Netherlands, Maastricht University was founded in 1976. Its Department of Finance teaches undergraduate courses and offers master’s programs in Financial Economics, Sustainable Finance, Marketing Finance, and Strategic Corporate Finance.

According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, Maastricht University is tied for 131st worldwide. It is ranked 78th in Business and Economics in the 2026 subject rankings.

2. Copenhagen Business School

Copenhagen Business School reports 21,062 students and 60 bachelor’s, master’s, executive master’s, and diploma programs.

At the bachelor’s level, CBS offers 15 programs. Examples include the BSc in International Business and the BSc in International Shipping and Trade. Its Department of Finance also lists master’s programs such as the MSc in Economics and Business Administration in Finance and Investments.

CBS has buildings in Frederiksberg and an examination building in Amager Strand.

3. Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich

Founded in Ingolstadt in 1472, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich offers the Master in Financial and Insurance Mathematics for students interested in quantitative finance.

The program comprises 120 ECTS credits over four semesters and includes mandatory and elective modules, an internship, and a master’s thesis.

4. Stockholm School of Economics

Stockholm School of Economics offers finance-related study options at the bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. levels. Its two English-taught bachelor’s programs are Business & Economics and Retail Management.

At the master’s level, SSE lists programs including Finance, Economics, and Accounting, Valuation & Financial Management.

5. Cardiff University

Cardiff University is Wales’s highest-ranked university in the QS World University Rankings. Cardiff is ranked 181st in the QS World University Rankings 2026.

Cardiff offers finance-related study at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Current options include the Banking and Finance BSc, Economics, Banking and Finance MSc, and Ph.D. in Economics.

6. Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin was created by royal charter in 1592. Trinity is ranked 75th worldwide in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and states that it is Ireland’s No. 1 university in the QS and Times Higher Education 2026 rankings.

Trinity Business School offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. Its options include the undergraduate Global Business program and finance-related master’s programs such as the MSc in Finance, MSc in Financial Risk Management, and MSc in Law and Finance.

Students interested in working in Dublin should review current internship, networking, and graduate-role opportunities through the university’s career services and individual employers.

7. University of Zurich

Located in Zurich, the University of Zurich offers bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. study options in banking and finance.

The bachelor’s program teaches academic fundamentals in banking and finance. The master’s program covers banking, corporate finance, financial economics, and quantitative finance, with related minor options such as Sustainable Finance. The Department of Finance also offers a Ph.D. program in Finance.

UZH describes Zurich as an internationally important business location and financial center. Students should review current career opportunities through university resources and individual employers rather than assume a particular hiring outcome.
