The admission process for all universities in Ontario is the same. To start the process, you need to create an Ontario Universities Account Center (OUAC) account online. You will then be guided through the process. At the end of your application, you will need to provide all of your documentation and wait for it to be reviewed by university staff. Application Fee at University of Waterloo

The application fee for all universities in Ontario, including the University of Waterloo is $120. This will allow you to apply for three different programs. If you wish to apply to additional programs, you will need to pay $40 extra for each program that you apply for.

Undergraduate Scholarships

1. International Student Entrance Scholarship

This University of Waterloo scholarship is awarded to 20 outstanding international students heading into their first year of studies at the University of Waterloo. Only students with an admission rate of over 90% are considered for this scholarship and will receive an $8,000 reduction in their tuition fees in the first year.

No application is required for this University of Waterloo scholarship, with the exception of mathematics, where the students with the best Euclid Math Contest results will be given an advantage in the selection process.

2. President’s Scholarships

International first-year students with an admission rate better than 85%, also automatically qualify for one of the president’s scholarships. The only other requirement is that the student is attending a first-year degree for the first time. Depending on the admission rate percentage, students will get from $1000 to a $1,600 reduction in tuition fees by getting this scholarship at the University of Waterloo.

For students with an admission rate of over 95%, additional perks may also apply. These scholarships are also available in later years of your studies, with the condition that you finished the first year with an average of at least 80%.

Graduate Scholarships

1. President’s Graduate Scholarship

This scholarship has been awarded at McMaster University since 1999. As the name suggests, it was put in place by the Graduate Students Association under the initiative of the McMaster Student Opportunity Fund. This University of Waterloo scholarship for international graduate students can be granted to both part-time and full-time students across all faculties. It is awarded annually to a lucky student selected by the Graduate Students Association.

However, it is also worth noting that international students can never be fully covered when it comes to tuition, no matter what scholarship they have. This scholarship is no exception, but it will still take off a decent portion of the tuition fee.

2. International Master’s and International Doctoral Student Awards

The IMSA or IMDA is automatically provided to all eligible international graduate students at the University of Waterloo. The two main requirements for students to qualify for these scholarships at the University of Waterloo are for them to not be receiving any other form of tuition fee assistance at the moment, and to have shown significant academic prowess in the past. This means that not all international students are eligible to receive this scholarship.
