Being Malaysia’s oldest institution, the University of Malaya is located in Kuala Lumpur, which is the nation’s capital city. Also known for short as UM, this institution in Malaysia was established in 1905 as King Edward VII College of Medicine, but after the merge of the College of Medicine with Raffles College, this university was later renamed as University of Malaya since Malaysia was known at that time by this term “Malaya.”

Due to its high academic standards, all the courses offered at the University of Malaya receive worldwide recognition and accreditation on an international level. Due to its international fame, UM has established various connections and partnerships with academic institutions overseas, and the students at UM enjoy that international collaboration through a variety of academic programs, whether it be at home or by studying overseas. In this article, we will be looking at the University of Malaya scholarships for international students.

University of Malaya Scholarships for International Students

Undergraduate Scholarships

Unfortunately, the University of Malaya doesn’t offer scholarships to international students who are coming into the institution as first-year applicants. For undergraduate programs, UM only offers financial awards to Malaysian citizens and international students who are undergraduate juniors and seniors.

However, all is not lost since you can still apply for external scholarships, funding, and loans that are offered to UM incoming freshmen. If you need financial assistance to pass through college, I would try to look through the awards offered by the University of Malaya, and if you can’t find any scholarships suitable to your taste, try to look at other institutions in Asia.
