The Journey
My name is Muhammad Asim, and I am from Sargodha, Pakistan. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in International Business Economics at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE GTK), Budapest, under the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. I have always been deeply interested in global trade, cross-cultural management, and the dynamics of international business. My motivation to study in this field stems from a desire to contribute positively to both my community and the organizations I work with in the future. I am a diligent student, driven by the goal of enhancing my academic and practical knowledge through meaningful global exposure.
Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Details
I am honored to be a recipient of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, one of Europe’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship programs. Funded by the Hungarian Government and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation, this fully funded scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. After completing one semester at SMK University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania, I was selected for this scholarship and transferred to ELTE GTK in Budapest to continue my degree in BSc International Business Economics.
Educational Background
Matriculation
I began my secondary education in my hometown, where I consistently performed with excellence. I was the only student in my school to score 100% marks in both Mathematics and Physics, which earned me several awards from my school as well as other leading institutions in Sargodha. My outstanding results led to scholarship offers from prestigious colleges, including the Punjab Group of Colleges and the Superior Group of Colleges. However, I chose Chenab College Jhang for my intermediate education due to its excellent academic environment, diverse student body, and comprehensive extracurricular facilities. Result: A+ Grade.
High School
At Chenab College Jhang, I was awarded a full tuition fee scholarship based on my excellent academic record in matriculation. During my two years there, I continued to maintain an A+ grade, participating actively in educational and extracurricular activities that helped me develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
Degree Program
I enrolled at SMK University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania for a Professional Bachelor’s degree in International Business, where I completed one semester with a GPA of 8.0/10. My studies focused on key areas such as Finance and Accounting and International Business Management, which deepened my understanding of global economic systems. I also brought favorable outcomes to both my university community and academic group through active engagement and a positive attitude. Later, I received the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship and transferred to ELTE GTK Budapest, where I am now continuing my degree in BSc International Business Economics.
How Did You Prepare to Apply to Eötvös Loránd University?
I conducted in-depth research about European universities through official university websites, international student platforms, and scholarship portals. My goal was to find a program that matched both my academic interests and my career aspirations. For language proficiency, I completed the IELTS Academic Test with an overall score of 6.0, with no band less than 6.0, meeting international admission requirements. Additionally, I took the HEC USAT Exam, a compulsory test for scholarship nomination by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and achieved an excellent score of 71/100. These qualifications strengthened my university and scholarship applications, demonstrating both my academic preparedness and my English proficiency.
How Did You Prepare to Apply to the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship?
While preparing for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, I focused on showcasing a balance between academic performance and personal motivation. I carefully structured my motivation letter to highlight my achievements, goals, and commitment to education. I also ensured that my recommendation letters came from teachers who could genuinely reflect my strengths. My application emphasized my consistency, discipline, and strong will to represent my country positively on an international platform.
What Do You Think Made Your Application Stand Out?
My application stood out because it clearly demonstrated academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a strong sense of purpose. I didn’t just present my grades; I expressed how my education aligns with my long-term vision to contribute meaningfully to the global business community. My previous academic success, combined with my determination and community involvement, reflected a well-rounded and goal-oriented profile that matched the scholarship’s objectives.
What Would You Have Done Differently if You Were Going Through the Process Again?
If I could go through the process again, I would start even earlier to research more international opportunities and interact with previous scholarship recipients for insights. However, I am truly grateful for every step of my journey; it taught me patience, persistence, and the value of detailed preparation.
What Advice Would You Give Those Looking to Apply for a Similar Scholarship?
My advice to future applicants is to believe in themselves and remain consistent.
