The Journey

My name is Krishna Sharma, and I am a public health professional and SRHR activist from Dailekh, a rural district in western Nepal. I am deeply committed to global health research and data-driven advocacy. I am currently pursuing an MSc in Global Public Health at the University of Greenwich as a Chevening Scholar for the 2025/26 academic year.

Growing up in a remote Himalayan village, I witnessed profound healthcare inequalities, especially affecting women and children. The absence of birthing centers, limited transportation, and reliance on unsafe traditional practices during medical emergencies shaped my early understanding of systemic health disparities. These experiences inspired my dedication to advancing equitable and inclusive healthcare systems in rural communities.

Chevening Scholarship Details

I was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, a fully funded program that covers tuition fees, travel, and living expenses. This opportunity has enabled me to pursue my postgraduate studies in the UK and expand my global perspective on public health.

Educational Background

I completed my undergraduate degree in Public Health (Bachelor of Public Health) from the National Academy for Medical Science, Purbanchal University in Kathmandu, Nepal. My academic training provided a strong foundation in epidemiology, health systems, and community-based interventions. In addition to academic learning, my practical exposure to rural healthcare challenges significantly shaped my professional path, particularly in maternal and child health, health equity, and policy implementation.

What Do You Think Made Your Application Stand Out?

I believe my application stood out due to my demonstrated commitment to public health and measurable impact at the community level.
