Tianjin University, established in 1895, is the first modern university in China and remains one of the country’s leading institutions for engineering and applied sciences. Located in Tianjin, the university is well-known for fostering academic excellence, research innovation, and international collaboration across its diverse programs.
To support international students, Tianjin University offers a range of scholarship opportunities. Undergraduate students can apply for the Scholarship for Chemical Engineering and Technology Program, which provides full scholars with a 20,000 RMB tuition subsidy and an annual allowance of 14,000 RMB. Partial scholars receive a tuition subsidy of 20,000 RMB. Another option is the International Student Scholarship, which is available in multiple tiers: Type A scholars receive a 20,000 RMB tuition subsidy plus a 14,000 RMB annual allowance, while Type B and C scholars are awarded 20,000 RMB, 10,000 RMB, or 6,000 RMB tuition subsidies depending on their eligibility.
For graduate-level funding, the Scholarship in School of Civil Engineering offers Master’s students a tuition subsidy of 30,000 RMB and a 20,000 RMB annual allowance for full scholars, or a 12,000 RMB allowance for partial scholars. The Peiyang Future Scholar Scholarship supports Master’s and PhD students with free accommodation, a tuition subsidy of up to 38,000 RMB, and a monthly allowance ranging from 3,000 to 3,500 RMB.
Several external scholarships are also available. The Tianjin Government Scholarship provides full funding for undergraduate and graduate students, including tuition fees (up to 20,000 RMB for undergraduates and 30,000 RMB for Master’s students), a monthly living stipend, and health insurance. The Chinese Government Scholarship offers full coverage for all degree levels, including tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend (CNY 2,500–3,500), and medical insurance.
