HSK Test (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi)

Also known as the long name above, the HSK test is a Chinese standardized test for testing the Chinese proficiency of an international student. It was made to test the speaking and the listening of Chinese, and also the writing part as well.

There are six different levels of HSK tests, and as you increase the number, the test gets harder and harder. It is similar to TOEFL, but the HSK test is to test your Chinese proficiency. HSKK Test (HSK Speaking Test)

This test is an advanced-level test for students who have studied in China for more than 2 years, and it tests the vocabulary mastery of the Chinese language. This test has three parts: listen and repeat, read aloud, and answer the questions.

Taking the standardized tests and passing them has certain advantages, and one of them is that you can apply for the Confucius Institute Scholarship if you get a high score on the standardized tests.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Cannot be a Chinese citizen (Only for international students from the perspective of China, and international students who are already studying in China cannot apply for this scholarship).
  • In a good physical and mental condition, have a good academic grade, and also be in good behavior.
  • Going to go into the teaching field of promoting the Chinese language and culture. In other words, you will become a Chinese teacher if you take this scholarship.
  • Between ages 16-35. Undergraduate applicants should not be over 25 years of age, and applicants who have previously worked as a Chinese language teacher should not be over 45 years of age.

  • Scholarships for One Academic Year
    • For students taking TCSOL
      • Have a minimum score of 270 in HSK Test (Level 3)
      • A test score for HSSK is required
    • For students taking Chines Language, Literature, Chinese History, and Chinese Philosophy
      • Have a minimum score of 180 in HSK Test (Level 4)
      • Have a minimum score of 60 in HSKK Test (Advanced Level)
    • For students taking Chinese Language Study
      • Have a minimum score of 180 in HSK Test (Level 3)

Benefits of Confucius Institute Scholarship

The benefits of this scholarship are basically the same as full-ride scholarships. This scholarship will cover your full tuition, living costs, and a living allowance for your school year. Even though the benefits are the same, the duration of these scholarships is different.


For master’s, you will receive this scholarship for a maximum of two years, and for undergraduates, you will receive this scholarship for your whole four years of study. For one academic year, you will receive this scholarship for a maximum of 11 months, and the duration of one-semester study is five months, and the duration of four-week study is four weeks.
