Facts about Yourself:
- College that you will be attending: Knox College in Illinois
- Program: Bachelor of Liberal Arts
- Career Plan (if you have one): My goal is to build a social system called ethical capitalism. Capitalism, as seen in environmental destruction and poverty often lowers people’s ethical consciousness. However, since capitalism is currently the most effective economic system, I aim to achieve a balance between ethics and capitalism by using the mechanisms of capitalism to elevate people’s ethical awareness. I plan to focus on the intersections of philosophy (or ethics) and economics.
- Hobbies: I have many hobbies, including hiking, walking, and playing football. One of the things I enjoy most during hikes or walks is gaining a new perspective on my surroundings by myself. Even the area around my home where I have been living for more than 10 years gives me a new sight of the world.
- One fun fact about yourself: My birthday is January 1st.

How did you hear about GlobalScholarships.com External Scholarship?
I discovered GlobalScholarships.com through a post on X by an account that curates information on international scholarships.
How was the application process of the GlobalScholarships.com External Scholarships and how did you prepare for it?
The application process was well-organized and clearly outlined, making it easy to navigate. My preparation involved taking a blank sheet of paper and writing down my thoughts and feelings, focusing on which aspects of myself I wanted to highlight in my essay. I then connected these ideas to create an outline, which helped guide my writing.
Have you received other scholarships from your university or other organizations?
I have received the Knox Trustee’s Scholarship and the Knox Land of Lincoln Award from my college. Both are based on academic merit.
What do you advise other students, whether it be for this scholarship or for other external scholarships?
What you think is more important than anything else. Sometimes, when we are rejected by a university or for a scholarship, it can feel as if our thoughts and emotions—our inner selves—are being denied. However, our inner selves cannot, of course, be measured by any standard. Continuing to feel, continuing to think—there is great value in that for us. Have confidence in yourself and express yourself fully. If you do that, you will surely be rewarded. ‘I think, therefore I am,’ as the saying goes.
