The Tianjin Government Scholarship is a program established by the Tianjin Municipal Government to attract international students to study at universities in Tianjin. Awarded directly by participating institutions, it specifically supports students pursuing degrees in fields aligned with Tianjin’s local development goals, including advanced manufacturing, logistics, technology, and international business.

Tianjin Government Scholarship Coverage

This scholarship for international students covers the following:

  • Tuition fees (up to 20,000 RMB for undergraduate and 30,000 for master's students)
  • Living allowance (1,400RMB/month for undergraduate and 1,700RMB/month for master's students)
  • Health insurance

Tianjin Government Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Tianjin Government Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health
  • High school diploma, under 25 years old (undergraduate applicants)
  • Bachelor's degree, under 35 years old (Master's applicants)
  • HSK-5 (minimum score: 180). Native Chinese speakers or those who completed prior education in Chinese are exempt (for Chinese-taught programs)
  • TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0. Native English speakers or those who completed prior education in English may submit proof of their prior studies instead.
  • TOEFL 85 or IELTS 6.5 (for the English MBA program)
  • Applicants must demonstrate good conduct, be physically and mentally healthy, and comply with Chinese laws and university regulations

The scholarship has 2 tiers. Recipients of the tier 1 scholarship receive all of the benefits outlined above. The tier 2 scholarship only covers tuition fees.
