Global Excellence Scholarships Application Process

A separate scholarship application – in addition to the university admission – is needed for Global Excellence Scholarships. You’ll have to collect these requirements:

  • 1 letter of recommendation
  • International Student Financial Statement.
  • English Proficiency Test Scores
  • 250 to 500-word essay

Once you have those ready, follow these steps to submit your scholarship application and requirements:

  1. Submit the application online via State University of New York (SUNY) Application or the Common Application as per the deadlines
  2. Send your transcript from your secondary school as well as academic transcripts in languages other than English accompanied by an official and certified English translation to the University at Albany's Office of International Admissions & Recruitment for evaluation
  3. Submit your test scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Duolingo scores if English is not your native language
  4. Submit the International Student Financial Statement.
  5. Complete a 250 to 500-word essay
  6. Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor
