My name is Tehreem, and I’m from Karachi, Pakistan. I completed all my schooling, from kindergarten to A Levels, at Beaconhouse School System. I am currently pursuing a BEng in Civil Engineering with a Year in Industry at University College London (UCL) and will graduate in 2027. For the placement year, I was accepted into Mott Macdonald, a global company that provides engineering, management, and development services for infrastructure projects.

From a young age, I was always passionate about mathematics; it just made sense to me. But I was also drawn to design, drawing, and creative projects, which made Civil Engineering the perfect blend of logic and creativity. Educational Background

I achieved 9 A*s and As in O Levels and 3 A*s and As in A Levels. But I’ve learned that grades alone aren’t everything; what truly matters is how you present yourself. My extracurriculars, writing experience, and personality played a huge role. I used to write content for various tech blogs and websites, which helped me stand out as more than just a student focused on academics.

Universities, and now even employers, value communication, initiative, and personal presence just as much as grades. My background helped me demonstrate that balance between strong academics and well-rounded skills.

How I Prepared to Apply to Institutions

Start early, way before graduation. I spent most of my A2 year applying to universities and scholarships, beginning in September rather than waiting until January. I kept personal trackers for deadlines and progress to stay organized.
