The Journey
My name is Giovanna, I am 23 years old, and I am from Brazil. When I was a child, I used to play “teacher and classroom” with my friends, and activities like that brought me great joy. However, I never imagined that one day I would actually become a teacher. For a long time, I wanted to be a psychologist, as I have always enjoyed, and still do, understanding people’s minds. As I grew older, I realized that I could explore this same interest through teaching, especially when working with children. Although I still intend to study psychology in the future, I feel truly fulfilled knowing that teaching allows me to understand, guide, and continuously learn about the human mind.
Throughout my educational journey, I had the opportunity to work with a very special student who completely transformed my perspective on education and motivated me to seek deeper pedagogical knowledge and more effective teaching tools. He has cerebral palsy and autism, and working with him challenged everything I thought I knew about learning, communication, and inclusion. This experience strengthened my passion for education and reinforced my desire to become a more prepared, empathetic, and skilled teacher.
I am currently majoring in English in Brazil, which has strengthened my academic knowledge of the language and reinforced my goal of becoming an excellent English teacher.
