What Scholarship Recipients Say
Advice and insights from international students who successfully secured funding to study at University of Turku.
"For my master’s degree, I was awarded the University of Turku Scholarship for International Students. This scholarship covers the full two-year tuition fee, totaling 16,000 EUR (as of 2024). However, the University of Turku’s full tuition scholarship has been discontinued starting from the 2025 admissions cycle."
"To apply to the University of Turku, I only took the IELTS exam to meet the language requirement, as the program is taught in English. Rather than spending most of my effort on the standardized test, I concentrated on developing my research trajectory and writing a strong letter of motivation, because these were emphasized as the primary evaluation criteria. It is important to understand which components carry the most weight in each application."
"Warm greetings! My name is Indranil Enkhtuvshin, but I go by Inna. I am currently studying a Master of Social Sciences in East Asian Studies at the University of Turku, Finland."
"Studying here has been a great experience. The teachers are very supportive and helpful, and the university provides all the resources needed for growth. A wide range of tools and software is offered, along with opportunities for conferences, projects, and collaborations. Internships are available, including options to work with companies, which ensures strong collaboration between academia and industry."
"I would rate it really high in terms of research and collaboration opportunities. Also, I felt like it's an inclusive community. They are very prompt and helpful in all matters."
"I never felt like an international student, as everyone is treated equally. All academic classes and research activities are conducted in English, which is sufficient within the university environment. However, if you plan to work in industry or local companies, proficiency in Finnish becomes essential. While a few staff members may not speak English fluently, communication is still manageable."
