Demand for data professionals continues to grow worldwide. The World Economic Forum identifies big data specialists as among the fastest-growing occupations through 2030 and lists AI and big data among the fastest-growing skills.

Universities in Indonesia now offer standalone Data Science degrees and related programs in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Informatics. International universities have also established campuses and academic partnerships in the country.

These programs give students several ways to develop skills in data analysis, machine learning, statistics, programming, and data management. In this article, we will look at top universities offering Data Science or closely related study options in Indonesia.

Top Schools Offering Data Science in Indonesia

1. University of Indonesia

Universitas Indonesia (UI) traces its roots to a medical school established in 1849 and was officially founded in 1950. UI is ranked joint 191st in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

The university’s international undergraduate Computer Science and Information Technology program is offered as a joint-degree pathway. Data Science is one of its listed areas of interest, alongside Artificial Intelligence, Systems and Architectures, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, User Experience Design, and Virtual and Augmented Reality.

The study pattern varies by partner university. UI offers a 2+2 arrangement with the Australian National University, Deakin University, and the University of Birmingham. The arrangement with the University of Queensland is 2.5+1.5 or 2.5+2, while the pathway with RMIT University is 2+1.5. Therefore, the program is not uniformly divided into five semesters in Indonesia and three semesters overseas.

2. Bina Nusantara University

Bina Nusantara University, commonly known as BINUS University, began in 1974 as the Modern Computer Course. It developed through several institutional stages before Bina Nusantara University was officially established in 1996. BINUS now lists campuses in Kemanggisan, Alam Sutera, Senayan, Bekasi, Bandung, Malang, Semarang, and Medan.

BINUS is ranked in the 901–950 band in the QS World University Rankings 2027. The university also offers international experiences through study-abroad, student-exchange, and selected double-degree opportunities.

The Bachelor’s program in Data Science combines information technology, statistics, and machine learning. It can be completed in approximately 3.5 to four years and includes opportunities to gain one year of experience through an industrial internship, research, or entrepreneurship. BINUS also offers related programs in Business Analytics and the double program in Computer Science and Statistics.

Tuition varies by campus and intake and may include separate tuition, laboratory, equipment, and development charges. Applicants should consult the current BINUS tuition schedule to confirm the fees applicable to the Data Science program.

3. Gadjah Mada University

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) was established in 1949 during the early years of Indonesian independence. It now has 18 faculties, one graduate school, and one vocational school. UGM is ranked joint 206th in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

UGM’s Department of Computer Science and Electronics offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in Computer Science, as well as a Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence. Its Master’s in Computer Science includes an Applied Data Science specialization.

For foreign applicants, the International Undergraduate Program in Computer Science currently charges IDR 25,000,000 per semester, plus a one-time institutional development fee of IDR 50,000,000. The regular Master’s in Computer Science costs IDR 11,000,000 per semester, while the international Master’s program costs IDR 35,750,000 per semester. Doctoral applicants should consult UGM’s current admissions information for the fee applicable to their program and applicant category.

4. Monash University

Monash University’s Indonesia campus is the country’s first international, foreign-owned university. The wider Monash University is ranked 31st in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

The Master of Data Science is delivered at Monash University, Indonesia. The curriculum covers areas such as data analysis, data visualization, big data modeling, machine learning, computational modeling, and statistical reasoning. The skills taught can be applied in technology companies, government, research, entrepreneurship, and other data-driven fields.

The program is currently listed as two years of full-time study or an estimated four years of part-time study, depending on the applicant’s previous qualifications. Annual tuition is IDR 224,000,000 for Indonesian students and IDR 248,000,000 for international students. Fees are subject to change.

Applicants must also meet the program’s English-language requirements. Accepted results include an IELTS Academic score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in each component, or a TOEFL iBT score of 79 on the 0–120 scale, with minimum component scores of 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 21 in writing, and 18 in speaking. Monash also accepts certain equivalent qualifications and test formats.

5. Diponegoro University

Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) began in 1957 as Universitas Semarang. It was renamed Universitas Diponegoro by President Sukarno in 1960. UNDIP is ranked joint 662nd in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

UNDIP offers a Bachelor’s program in Informatics through its Faculty of Science and Mathematics. Although this is not a standalone Data Science degree, the department emphasizes algorithms, intelligent computing, and data analytics. Its research laboratories also cover data and knowledge management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computational science, and computer vision.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, tuition for the Informatics program ranges from IDR 500,000 to IDR 8,500,000 per semester. These figures represent different Single Tuition Fee, or UKT, groups assigned to students; they do not represent fees that automatically increase with each semester.
