The Journey
I am Sayyad Asad Ali. I am from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. I am currently pursuing my Master's of Technology in Packaging Technology at IIT Roorkee, India. I chose Packaging because I believe Packaging Technology is a practical, future-relevant, and industry-driven specialization with strong demand, especially as sustainability pressures increase globally.
DAAD KOSPIE Scholarship Details
I received the DAAD KOSPIE India scholarship through which I got the opportunity to prepare my master’s thesis at the Fraunhofer Institute through TU Darmstadt, Germany. This scholarship provides seven months of stay in Germany from September to March, in which the first month is for a basic German language program and the next six months for thesis research. In this scholarship, you will get 992 euros of monthly stipend, 266 euros as research allowance, 1425 euros as travel allowance, and medical and liability insurance.
Educational Background
I did my Bachelor of Technology in Textile Engineering with 78.44%. After this, I prepared for the GATE exam and got an All India rank 42, through which I got admission in IIT Roorkee in the Packaging Technology branch, where in my first year, I got a 9.5 CGPA, which helped me to get an offer from a German professor after applying.

They had assigned people to support overseas students who were very supportive and ready to help as much as possible.
Are Your Classes Conducted in English or German?
This is a research scholarship, so there were no classes.

I think the two most important things to get this scholarship are the research proposal ( the research you are going to perform there) and an offer letter, which you will get after approaching professors there.
What Would You Have Done Differently if You Were Going Through the Process Again?
I would approach more professors in different institutes.

Get a good CGPA, prepare your CV well, prepare a good research proposal, and approach as many professors as possible.
