The Journey
My name is Mirza Fareedh Akbar Ali, and I am from Tamil Nadu, India. I am currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Intelligent Manufacturing at TU Clausthal, Germany. I come from a strong academic background in mechanical engineering and have a keen interest in improving manufacturing systems through data-driven and intelligent approaches.
Educational Background
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, graduating with First Class with Distinction (CGPA: 8.6/10). I am currently enrolled in the M.Sc. Intelligent Manufacturing program at TU Clausthal, where my current academic standing is 2.1 (Gut). My academic training provided a strong foundation in manufacturing processes, experimentation, and engineering analysis.
Preparation for Application
I prepared for my application by maintaining strong academic performance, engaging in research-oriented projects, and building relevant technical skills. I also completed standardized tests such as IELTS (Overall Band 7) and GRE (308/340), and strengthened my profile through programming and data science coursework.
Why Germany
Germany attracted me due to its global leadership in engineering and manufacturing, strong emphasis on applied research, and the availability of high-quality education at public universities with minimal tuition fees.
Challenges as an International Student
Some initial challenges included managing living expenses, adapting to a new cultural environment, navigating administrative procedures, and finding suitable part-time work. Over time, these challenges became manageable through careful planning and experience.
Recommendation
Yes, I would recommend Germany to international students who are academically motivated and willing to adapt. The country offers an excellent balance of academic quality, affordability, and professional exposure.
Language of Instruction
My Master’s program is conducted entirely in English. While knowledge of German is not a strict academic requirement, basic proficiency is beneficial for daily life, part-time work, and long-term integration.
