Ireland hosted 44,535 non-Irish-domiciled higher education enrolments in 2024/25, according to the Higher Education Authority. Students come to Ireland from many countries, making it a popular and diverse study destination. In Ireland, you can pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programs, provided you meet the entry and English language requirements for your chosen course.

If you are an eligible EU/EEA/Swiss/UK student, you may qualify for Ireland’s Free Fees Initiative for approved full-time undergraduate courses. However, free fees do not apply to every course or every student, and eligible students may still need to pay a student contribution charge. Ireland is also known for its welcoming study environment. Dublin, the country’s capital city, was named the fourth friendliest city in the world and third friendliest city in Europe in the 2023 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.
