Technological change has transformed education across the world. Traditional classroom learning is increasingly being supplemented by digital platforms, and many students are drawn to online learning because of its flexibility, convenience, and accessibility.

Distance learning allows students to study with universities abroad without relocating. It can also reduce costs linked to transportation, campus accommodation, and printed materials, although tuition fees still apply to most degree programs. Europe is home to many long-established universities and specialist institutions with strong academic and professional programs.

As Europe’s digital education landscape develops, more universities and education providers are offering online degree programs. The European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan also supports a shared vision of high-quality, inclusive, and accessible digital education in Europe.

The following are a few European institutions that offer online master’s degrees or postgraduate programs that may be suitable for international students.

Top Schools Offering Online Master’s Degrees in Europe

Some well-known universities and specialist providers in Europe offer online master’s degree programs. Here are several European institutions to consider:

1. King’s College London

Our first recommendation is King’s College London, a major public research university in the United Kingdom. King’s offers online postgraduate programs designed for students who want flexible study options while learning from a top-ranking UK university.

King’s is ranked 31st in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The university also highlights its strong UK position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 and its large global alumni network.

Several King’s online master’s programs have multiple intake dates each year. For example, the Applied Neuroscience MSc is 100% online, taught part-time, and has six entry points throughout the year. Other online options include Global Security MA and International Affairs MA, PG Dip, PG Cert programs, which also offer six intakes per year.

Tuition fees vary by program and award level. For the online Global Security MA and International Affairs MA, fees are charged per module, with 12 modules required for the full MA. Students should review the latest course fee pages and the university’s scholarships information or contact King’s directly for details about financial support.

2. Rofey Park Institute

Another option is Roffey Park Institute, a specialist provider focused on leadership, management, organizational development, and people-centered change. Roffey Park is not a university, but it is a partner institution of the University of Sussex, which acts as the validating authority for its MSc in People and Organisational Development.

Its MSc in People and Organisational Development is an online master’s qualification designed for HR, organizational development, leadership, and change professionals. The program is delivered entirely online to international cohorts through virtually taught components, online materials, and self-directed Dialogic Learning Groups.

The current standard course fee is £12,500, with an early booking rate of £12,000, plus VAT where applicable. Roffey Park also states that self-funding students may be able to use an interest-free 24-month payment plan. The institute’s funding guidance discusses scholarships, grants, employer sponsorship, and international funding options, including Fulbright awards for eligible applicants from the United States.

3. AIHE Academic Institute for Higher Education GmbH

AIHE Academic Institute for Higher Education GmbH offers work-compatible online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in English and German. AIHE delivers online programs in cooperation with partner universities, including London Metropolitan University, the University of East London, and FHWien der WKW.

International students can choose from online psychology-related master’s programs such as MSc Clinical Psychology, MSc Psychological Medicine/Mental Health, MSc Behavioural and Organizational Psychology, MSc Body Psychology and Body Psychotherapy, MSc Sport and Body Psychology, MSc Cyber Psychology, and MSc Artificial Intelligence Applications in Mental Health. Program availability depends on language, duration, and partner university.

Fees vary by program. AIHE currently lists online program tuition from €9,793.32, VAT-exempt, and some individual master’s program pages list this amount with installment payment options. Students should confirm the latest tuition, admission requirements, degree-awarding university, and recognition details before applying.

4. University of Liverpool

Our final suggestion for international students considering an online master’s degree is the University of Liverpool. The University of Liverpool Management School holds AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS accreditation, and the university is a member of the Russell Group.

The University of Liverpool is ranked 147th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and 143rd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.

The university offers online programs in subject areas including Business and Management, Computer Science, Education, Law, Medicine and Health Sciences, and Psychology. These programs are designed for flexible online study and include structured learning materials, assessments, and academic support.

The fees depend on the award and academic year. For 2026/27 starts, the university lists online MA, MSc, and LLM awards at £17,947, while the online MBA is listed at £24,634. The university also offers online student discounts and scholarships, including a 15% Executive Scholarship for selected June and July 2026 intakes and regional scholarships of up to 20% for eligible international students residing outside the UK. Students should check the latest discounts and scholarships page before applying.
