This fully funded scholarship for international students covers the following:

Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award Eligibility Criteria

  • Valid Canadian study permit
  • Direct entry to UBC from an accredited secondary school
  • Pursuing a first undergraduate degree
  • High school graduation in June of the year before entry or later
  • Academic results equivalent to all A grades
  • Significant financial need
  • Meeting UBC's English language requirements
  • Strong leadership and meaningful contributions to school or community activities
  • Nomination from a school or eligible nonprofit organization
  • Teacher referee who is different from the nominator
  • Enrolling in an eligible undergraduate program, excluding nursing, dental hygiene, medical laboratory science, Bachelor + Master of Management, and dual or joint degrees

A separate scholarship application – in addition to the university admission – is needed for Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award. You’ll have to collect these requirements:

  • Four essays of approximately 150–250 words each
  • Official family income, expense, and asset documents, plus financial need and contribution details
  • Extracurricular activity and achievement records

  1. Secure a nomination from your school or an eligible nonprofit organization
  2. Create an account on the International Scholars Program application portal
  3. Invite your nominator and request a recommendation from a different teacher
  4. Provide family financial details and available support information

  6. Submit your scholarship application after both recommendation forms are complete
