Luxembourg is a small landlocked country in the heart of Europe, bordered by Germany, Belgium, and France. Despite its size, Luxembourg has major political and financial importance in the region. Luxembourg City is one of the three official seats of the European institutions, together with Brussels and Strasbourg. The city is also home to the Court of Justice of the European Union and several other EU institutions, including the European Court of Auditors and the European Investment Bank.

There are three official languages in Luxembourg: French, German, and Luxembourgish. Luxembourgish is the national language of Luxembourg, while French, German, and Luxembourgish are used in the country’s administrative and legal systems. Many nationalities live in the country, with Portuguese, French, Italian, Belgian, and German communities among the largest foreign communities.

With its central location in Europe, high standard of living, and multicultural environment, Luxembourg can be an attractive place for international students. Although the country has a small higher education sector, it includes a public university and specialized private institutions in business, health, sport, and management.
