Positioned in the southern part of West Africa, Ivory Coast is a country that freed itself from French colonial rule in 1960. Although the country has an adult literacy rate of below 50 percent, it houses as many as 26 universities. None of these universities are expensive in terms of tuition, but not many of them offer what you would call quality education. However, below we have listed for you two cheap universities in Ivory Coast that do offer quality education.

Affordable Schools in Ivory Coast for International Students

1. Graduate School of Management

  • Tuition Fees: USD 3,400 – USD 5,100

In a country that predominantly uses French as the language of instruction in its higher education institutions, the Graduate School of Management (GSM) is one of the few to offer academic programs entirely in English. Located in the Ivorian economic capital of Abidjan, the private business school began its journey in 2002. It is partnered with several international institutions, including the UK-based Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) and the University of Wolverhampton, France-based Ecole Internationale de Management de Paris (EIM – Paris), and Switzerland-based Swiss School of Business and Management.

GSM is organized into six academic departments. This cheap university in Ivory Coast facilitates six bachelor’s programs: Accounting & Finance (BBA), Business Management (BBA), Economics (BA), Human Resource Management (BBA), Marketing Management (BBA), and Law (LLB). It runs a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with six specializations: Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, International Business, and Project Management. Several French-language bachelor’s programs, known as Licente Professionnelle (LP), are also available here. International students are charged between USD 3,400 and USD 5,100 annually, depending on the program.

2. International University of Grand-Bassam

  • Tuition Fees: USD 4,880 – USD 5,450

The International University of Grand-Bassam (IUGB) is an English-language higher education institution in Ivory Coast. It is a private university with around 800 students, situated in the country’s south-eastern town of Grand-Bassam. The number of countries represented on its campus is 22. It currently has 40 full-time and 54 part-time academic staff, half of whom come from outside the Ivory Coast. It is affiliated with more than 30 international universities and institutions from countries like the USA, France, and India. Established in 2005, the university used to offer only general education programs for almost a decade in collaboration with US-based universities like Georgia State University, the University of Houston, and the University of Alabama. But since 2014, it has been operating as a degree-granting institution.

This cheap university in Ivory Coast is made up of two schools: the School of Business and Social Sciences (BSS), and the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Through these two schools, it offers a total of six bachelor’s programs: Business Administration (BBA), Political Science (BA Pol), Computer Science (BS CSC), Computer Information System (BS CIS), Mathematics (BS Math), and Mechanical Engineering Technology (BS MET). No master’s programs are offered here. Annual tuition for students from any of the 15 member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is USD 4,880. Meanwhile, students from non-ECOWAS have to pay USD 5,450 per year.
