Turkey is a transcontinental country spanning Western Asia and southeastern Europe. Its capital is Ankara. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country’s population was 86,092,168 as of December 31, 2025. Turkish (Türkçe) is the official language.

The Turkish education system consists of two main components: formal education and nonformal education. Formal education covers pre-primary, primary, lower-secondary, upper-secondary, and higher education. Nonformal education includes organized educational activities provided outside the formal system.

Data science is widely used to support data-driven decision-making across many industries. Turkish universities offer graduate programs that combine statistics, computing, machine learning, and related fields. In this article, we will look at universities offering data science programs in Turkey.

Top Schools Offering Data Science in Turkey

1. Koç University

Koç University is a nonprofit private university founded in 1993. It offers 22 undergraduate programs across seven colleges, while its graduate programs are administered through four graduate schools. Rumelifeneri Campus is its main campus, and the university also lists West Campus, İstinye Campus, Koç University Hospital, and several research locations.

At the undergraduate level, Koç University’s academic units include the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics, College of Sciences, College of Social Sciences and Humanities, College of Engineering, Law School, School of Medicine, and School of Nursing.

Graduate education is organized through the Graduate School of Business, Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering, Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Graduate School of Health Sciences.

This academic structure supports interdisciplinary study across business, engineering, science, social sciences and humanities, law, medicine, and nursing.

Koç University offers thesis and non-thesis MSc options in Data Science. Under the university’s graduate regulations, the non-thesis option must be completed in two to three semesters, while the thesis option must be completed within a maximum of six semesters.

2. Sabancı University

Sabancı University was established in 1994 and began admitting students in 1999. The university reported 4,114 undergraduate and 869 graduate students in September 2025. Its academic units include the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Sabancı Business School. In the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024, Sabancı University ranked 54th among 673 universities worldwide.

The university describes its educational model as interdisciplinary and departmentless, allowing students to explore different fields before choosing a degree program.

Sabancı University’s master’s program in Data Science focuses on research areas including cloud computing, data mining, data privacy and security, data visualization, high-performance computing, machine learning, optimization and decision-making, and statistics.

3. Abdullah Gül University

Abdullah Gül University is a state university in Kayseri that was established in July 2010. In the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026, it was placed in the 101–200 band overall.

Current university program listings include the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Managerial Sciences, Faculty of Life and Natural Sciences, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The university is based at Sümer Campus in central Kayseri, while Mimar Sinan Campus remains under development.

Abdullah Gül University’s current academic catalog lists a master’s program in Data Science.

4. Yeditepe University

Yeditepe University is a foundation university established by the Istanbul Education and Culture Foundation (İSTEK) in 1996. Its current Data Science MSc is taught in English.

Yeditepe University’s Graduate School offers the program in thesis and non-thesis formats. It focuses on large-scale data and the mathematical, statistical, and machine-learning methods used to analyze it. Core courses include Fundamentals of Data Science, Research Methods in Data Science, Applied Statistics and Data Analysis, and Machine Learning.
