Thailand offers international students a culturally diverse study environment and a growing selection of international and English-medium degree programs.

Many Thai universities offer English-taught programs, but availability, campus location, tuition, and admission requirements vary by degree and faculty. Students should confirm the current details on each program’s official website before applying.

This article introduces top established institutions in Thailand that offer English-taught or international programs for international students.

Top Universities for English-taught Programs in Thailand

1. Chulalongkorn University

Chulalongkorn University was officially established in 1917. The university emphasizes the creation of knowledge and innovation for sustainable development, and its official program directory lists international and English-medium options at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.

Chulalongkorn University offers undergraduate and graduate international programs in several fields. Examples include the Bachelor of Business Administration International Program and the Master of Arts in International Development Studies.

The university is located in central Bangkok, making it accessible to students who prefer to study in Thailand’s capital. Applicants should check each faculty’s official page because the language of instruction, tuition, admission requirements, and application schedule vary by program.

2. Mahidol University

Mahidol University traces its origins to Siriraj Hospital, which was established in 1888. The University of Medical Sciences was established in 1943 and renamed Mahidol University in 1969 in honor of Prince Mahidol of Songkla. Prince Mahidol was a son of King Chulalongkorn and the father of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and he is recognized in Thailand as the “Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health.”

Mahidol University offers international programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Mahidol University International College provides English-medium undergraduate programs in fields such as business, science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences, while other faculties and the university’s graduate school offer additional postgraduate international programs.

Program locations vary across the university. Mahidol University International College is based at the Salaya campus in Nakhon Pathom, while other faculties operate at campuses and facilities in Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, and other parts of Thailand. Applicants should confirm the campus directly with the relevant faculty.

3. Thammasat University

Thammasat University was founded in 1934 as the University of Moral and Political Sciences. Its history is closely connected to the promotion of democracy, social equality, and social justice in Thailand. The university now provides education across a broad range of academic disciplines.

Thammasat University’s official international-program listings include English-taught or international degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Founded in 1959, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is an international, English-speaking postgraduate institution located in Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok. It offers education and research in areas related to engineering, technology, the environment, sustainability, and management.

AIT’s official website reports a community of more than 1,700 students from more than 50 countries. Its master’s and doctoral programs support the institution’s mission to build capacity for sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Because academic structures and program offerings can change, prospective students should confirm the current options through AIT’s official program directory.

5. Prince of Songkla University

Prince of Songkla University (PSU) traces its establishment to the University of Southern Thailand, which was founded in 1966. In September 1967, King Bhumibol Adulyadej granted it the name “Prince of Songkla University” in honor of his father, Prince Mahidol of Songkla. PSU became the first university in southern Thailand and now operates multiple campuses across the region.

PSU offers international and English-language programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its official listings include bachelor’s programs as well as master’s and doctoral programs that accommodate international students. The available programs and languages of instruction vary by faculty and campus.

I believe this article needs a bit more research. While the link to the English language bachelor programs for Mahidol University goes directly to Mahidol University International College (MUIC), MUIC only represents 17 of the 33 different English language bachelor degrees offered by Mahidol University. For example, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology has been offering its international program in ICT since 2003.
