Top Universities in Indonesia for International Students

1. University of Indonesia

Established in the capital of Indonesia, the University of Indonesia was originally established to train students in medicine. Merging with five independent universities into one state university, the University of Indonesia continues to train doctoral students, but they did not stop there. In addition to medicine, they added dentistry, mathematics, natural sciences, letters, law, and philosophy.

First established with one faculty (medicine), the University of Indonesia currently has 13 faculties, and with the list above, they added nursing, engineering, psychology, economy, public health, humanities, and computer sciences. Welcoming international students, they currently have around 300 students, but the University of Indonesia is increasing their number year by year.

2. Institute of Technology Bandung

Founded in 1959, the Bandung Institute of Technology was established by the Indonesian government to teach science, technology, and fine arts to their college students. As the government released its hold over the university, the Bandung Institute of Technology has become more of a private university by taking risks and doing investments to increase its source of revenue.

 

3. Bogor Agricultural University

Built-in 1963, the Bogor Agricultural University was established to prove that there is a world-class university in Indonesia that teaches agriculture, biosciences, and other related fields. To eliminate poverty and to relieve hunger, the Bogor Agricultural University strives to train students in these fields to fulfill their missions and their life-long goals.

They currently have nine faculties, which are agriculture, veterinary medicine, fisheries, and marine sciences, animal science, forestry, mathematics, natural sciences, economics and management, and human ecology.

4. Universitas Gadjah Mada

Because of its long name, I will call this university by its nickname, which is UGM. Established in 1949, UGM is one of the oldest universities in Indonesia, and it was established as a national university. Not only is it the oldest university in Indonesia, but UGM is one of the best universities in Indonesia since it ranked as number one in the rankings of 2018.

5. Airlangga University

Officially established in 1954, Airlangga University is the third state university in Indonesia. First started off with six faculties, they grew into 15 faculties and still added more and more. 6. Brawijaya University

Instead of consistently using Brawijaya University, UB will be used to make our lives a little bit easier. Established in 1961, UB was named after an ancient kingdom in Indonesia, and UB was transformed into a state university after a decree from the Indonesian president. Located in the popular city of Malang, UB continues to grow into a leading university that influences other universities and colleges to follow their example.
