It is available for Master’s programs lasting one or two academic years and may also support students already enrolled in France who need funding for the second year of their Master’s program.

France Excellence Charpak Master Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for France Excellence Charpak Master Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Citizens of India or hold an OCI card.
  • Older than 30 when they submit the scholarship application.
  • Studying at, or have previously graduated from, an Indian higher education institution.
  • Applicants who earned a degree outside India may apply, although candidates with an Indian higher education background are given preference.
  • French-language ability can strengthen an application, but it is not required.
  • Applying to, or already enrolled in, a full-time Master's degree program.
  • Students already completing a Master's degree in France may apply only for support for the second year of that Master's program.
  • Must begin the admission process with a French higher education institution before submitting the scholarship application.
  • The scholarship is not open to PhD candidates or to applicants going to France only for a thesis component, training period, or research project.
  • Students who have previously received the Charpak Master Scholarship cannot receive it again.

The scholarship does not pay for international travel from India to France, travel within France, or other personal expenses connected with the student’s stay. Some French public institutions may exempt French government scholarship holders from differentiated enrollment fees for national-diploma programs, but applicants should confirm the fee policy directly with the institution.

The award may be cancelled or stopped if the recipient receives another scholarship from the French government, Erasmus, or the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie; enters an apprenticeship or professional training contract; completes an internship that is not required by the degree; takes a gap year or an academic exchange outside France; or fails to obtain the visa required for the selected program.
